The ingredients to obtain about 2 liters of licorice liqueur.

  • 280 grams natural licorice candies
  • 1 liter of water
  • 600 grams of sugar
  • 650 ml of alcohol at 95 °

Here how to make licorice liqueur with our recipe, step by step.

  1. Take two saucepans and pour half a liter of water into each container.
  2. In a saucepan add the licorice root that you have previously cut into small pieces and pour all the sugar into the other saucepan.
  3. Take the saucepan containing the licorice and put it on the stove with low heat, stirring constantly with a spoon until the licorice has completely dissolved
  4. Once this is done, remove from the heat and let it cool
  5. Now put the saucepan containing the water and sugar on the heat on a low flame and melt the sugar, stirring constantly with the spoon.
  6. When the sugar begins to dissolve, remove from heat and continue stirring until completely dissolved, then let it cool.
  7. After the licorice syrup and the sugar syrup have become cold, proceed to mix them together: one way to mix the two ingredients well could be to put them in a clean empty bottle with a capacity of 2 liters. You can in fact shake the bottle vigorously with your hands
  8. Once this is done, pour the alcohol into the bottle and mix again
  9. Close the bottle at licorice liqueur and store it in a dark place, preferably in a cool place or in the refrigerator

The licorice liqueur it will be ready to drink after about a month: during this phase, shake the bottle from time to time.

The ingredients to make a liter of powdered root liquorice liqueur.

  • 100 gr of powdered licorice
  • 470 ml of water
  • 300 ml of sugar
  • 280 ml of alcohol

In a saucepan, heat the water. Over low heat, add the powdered licorice and sugar. Stir until the ingredients are well mixed.

Let it cool and add the alcohol. Stir and then transfer the liquid obtained into a hermetically sealed bottle.

Before serving, let it "rest" for at least a week!
