A daily environmental sustainability course, intensive and above all practical, is what we need to know what to do. From resource depletion to pollution, from organic farming to waste recycling: what can we men of the street do in the face of such great challenges, if not learn ..?

To suggest useful answers to guide daily behaviors, Whirlpool organizes a 5-meeting course entitled "The health of our planet is ours: global resources and our daily life".

The cycle will be held by members of the Cast (Center for Appropriate Technological Development), an NGO that promotes a type of development compatible with the resources and environmental limits of the planet, with particular attention to renewable energy, lifestyles and consumption.

“We all need to feel responsible for environmental sustainability - he claims Giuseppe Geneletti, Whirlpool's director of corporate communications and learning & development –; as a company we make every effort to improve the energy efficiency of products, but as people we can go even further. And this in the certainty that development and well-being cannot exist without true respect for the environment ".

The course will take place in the auditorium of Whirlpool European Operations Center in Comerio (Varese), every Thursday from 12.30 to 13.30 from January 17th to February 14th. The initiative is part of Health Works, Whirlpool's program for employee health and well-being, which in recent years has dealt with good success in the culture of food, stress, nutritional education and vegetable garden at home.

This is the first module of the course on sustainability issues, which will be followed by another five lessons in 2013. Here is the program.

January 17. The state of the world: resource depletion, pollution, climate change - what science tells us and what we can (and must) do.

January 24. Fundamental resources: food, water, energy: what problems and what solutions? International cooperation.

January 31. At the table without surprises: the benefits of organic farming for humans and the environment.

February 7. Waste those who do not recycle: European, national and daily scenarios in integrated waste management.

February 14. We clean clothes without dirtying the world: detergents (what pollutes and what doesn't, knowing how to read labels, making the simplest detergents at home).
