How to insulate an internal wall, useful recommendations

  • It should be noted that the insulation of the internal walls may not be sufficient to limit the high humidity of the environment! In this case it will be necessary to insulate not only the perimeter wall but also the ceiling and the floor: it consists in applying panels, wedges and plasters in insulating material in order to stop the deterioration of the wall itself at the thermal bridges.
  • Another recommendation is to insulate the walls with great care, using good quality thermal insulation materials to be applied directly to the wall, taking care not to leave gaps between the two elements.
  • The internal insulation must be airtight to avoid structural damage
  • In insulated environments where the humidity is still very high, it is advisable to place the furniture at least 5 cm away from the walls.

How to insulate an internal wall plasterboard
For insulate an internal wall we can resort to the use of plasterboard sheets pre-coupled with sintered expanded polystyrene panels of at least 3 cm thick to be applied with glue: it is applied quickly and economically: just place the sheets on the wall with the specific glue using a notched trowel .

  1. Before proceeding, scrape and brush the wall with an anti-mold product then let it dry for at least a week.
  2. As you proceed, make sure the wall is smooth, clean, dry, and can hold the load.

The only disadvantage in plasterboard insulation is the impossibility of hanging objects on the walls.
As an alternative to plasterboard there are different solutions: it is possible, for example, to insulate the walls with "wooden beads": these are pre-shaped boards to be coupled with sheets of insulating material such as cork.

ATTENTION: the internal insulation of a building is less effective than the external one and should only be used where it is not possible to intervene on the outside.
